Only Show Recovery Warning if No Recovery Method Exists

What is the challenge or problem or you are trying to solve?

Currently, our system displays a persistent warning message prompting users to add an email address in order to enable self-service password recovery. This message is shown repeatedly at login for any user without an email, regardless of whether they have another valid recovery method (such as a phone number). Many organizations using LifeLoop only provide emails to select users, and do not want staff members entering personal email addresses. As a result, users who will never be given a work email are encountering a frustrating and unnecessary pop-up message every time they log in.

What is the impact?

This issue is negatively impacting the user experience, especially for organizations with limited email distribution. Users who do not have and will never be assigned a work email are repeatedly seeing a warning that does not apply to them. This creates confusion, frustration, and increases the likelihood of them inputting inaccurate or unwanted personal information. It also contributes to support inquiries and customer dissatisfaction.

Describe your idea

Update the logic behind the email warning message to only display when a user is missing all valid methods of password recovery: email, phone number, and text phone number. If a user already has at least one recovery method (e.g., a text phone number), the system should not prompt them to add an email. This change will ensure that the warning message only targets users who truly lack a recovery method, improving the relevance and helpfulness of system prompts while reducing unnecessary friction for users and organizations.
